Deutz-Fahr's specialist wins 'Best of specialised' at EIMA
21/11/2018
The Tractor of the Year award is an acclamation hotly contested annually by the top tractor manufacturers from all over the world. The award is broken up into categories including Best Design, Best of Specialised, Best Utility and the supreme award for Tractor of the Year.
SAME-Deutz-Fahr (SDF) have received these awards on a number of occasions across the SAME, Deutz-Fahr and Lamborghini brand banners, including picking up the supreme award in 2012 for the Deutz-Fahr 7250TTV.
SDF’s latest recognition came at the recent EIMA agricultural machinery show held in Bologna, Italy. The most recent incarnation of the SAME Frutetto CVT 115 S claimed the award for Best in Specialised 2019.
The SAME tractor will also be available early next year in New Zealand as the Deutz-Fahr 5115 DS TTV. The all new 5D specialised tractors have been redesigned from the former Agroplus series. Other than the obvious updates to the transmission and look of the tractor, the all new 5D feature a new engine, an updated cabin and a high flow hydraulic system.
The former 1000 Series engine has been phased out in order to make way for the latest FARMotion engine. The entire package is geared to deliver a higher performance than ever, constant power and torque delivery, even at low crankshaft speeds and lower fuel consumption.
Along with the four cylinder models, three cylinder models are also available for operations where power can be substituted for better manoeuvrability due to the shorter frame.
A major focal point of the new tractors is the TTV transmission. The super-efficient transmission is incredibly easy to operate with both step-less and clutch-less driving and an infinite number of speeds that allow for pin point accuracy from 0 to 40 km/h.
All the usual features of the Deutz TTV transmissions are still present including PowerZero, Trailer Stretch and the familiar 3 driving strategies, letting the operator fully harness the potential of the tractor.
The cabin has undergone a number of changes to improve both functionality, comfort and styling. On the outside, a new lighting package which includes up to eight roof mounted work lights and four pillar mounted LED light bars substantially increase visibility at night.
The frame of the cab provides a compact, rounded external frame, without sacrificing interior space. The finished product provides a spacious workstation with excellent visibility, while the optimal frame design minimises crop damage when working in rows.
A major advancement is the search for improved comfort and cabin space and the flat operator’s platform. The new TTV transmission is compact and low profile in construction, meaning the cab no longer has to straddle the gearbox. The flat platform not only makes for a more spacious work environment, it also greatly enhances access to and from the cabin.
The newly designed armrest controller puts all the controls in an easy and ergonomic reach of the driver. The main joystick features controls for the transmission, the hydraulics and the headland management sequence as well as three assignable buttons.
All other controls (excluding hitch setting dials), are located on the armrest, and are carefully laid out to allow for comfortable operation whether the implement is mounted out the front or out the back of the tractor.
The updated colour display on the dash is adapted from the larger Pro-Series tractors to clearly display all necessary information including speed, hydraulic settings and all other general engine and transmission info.
The redesigned bonnet also gives the tractor a striking new look, all the while providing ample visibility and plenty of lights to further enhance the practicality of the tractor. An adaptive front suspension system is standard fitment, there is a range of model sizes that allow the user to select a model best suited to the terrain/application.
